All the way up.

We’re not exactly short of tall buildings here in Dubai. From the 828-metre Burj Khalifa (yes, the world’s very tallest, thank you) to the newly-opened world’s tallest hotel, the general vibe is that bigger is better.

So perhaps you won’t be surprised to learn that the city is getting another jaw-dropping skyscraper, with construction starting later in the year.

Developers Azizi are behind the 570-metre tower, which will go up on Sheikh Zayed Road.

Here are a couple of pictures via the Dubai Media Office:

Set to cost Dhs3 billion, the as-yet-unnamed tower will be 122 storeys high when finished. That will be split into 100 floors of apartments, Gulf News reports, with a 22-floor hotel on top.

“The tower will be a stunning new addition to Shaikh Zayed Road — the main artery of the city — and will rival the world’s most well-known skyscrapers in terms of both scale and quality of design,” chairman Mirwais Azizi told the site.

The company is also working on Azizi Riviera, which as the name suggests, is inspired by the south of France. Set alongside the Dubai Canal, this neighbourhood will be home to 13,000 apartments when finished.

The project is set to cost Dhs12 billion altogether, we reported in July.

With ground breaking on this latest tower in Q3 this year, we’re not sure when it will be finished, but fear not.

Here’s a look at nine things we can’t wait to see opening in the UAE this year.
