For those booking in post-summer 2019, expect an all-new look to Dubai’s most famous hotel.

Dubai’s got one of the world’s most recognizable skylines. Sure, the Burj Khalifa is the show stealer, but then you cannot ignore the structure that came before it and put Dubai’s architecture on the world map of the cities with the most beautiful skylines.

The Burj Al Arab – the world’s only 7-star hotel – built at a staggering cost of $1billion and opened in 1999 will soon undergo a major renovation.

According to a report on Arabian Business, Jumeirah CEO Jose Silva has revealed that the Burj Al Arab renovations would be undertaken “probably in the summer of 2019”.

The details of what those renovations will entail are scarce, but this being the Burj Al Arab expect grand plans being laid out for the structure.

The renovations are touted to be a part of Dubai Holding’s ambitious $1.7 billion Marsa Al Arab project which involves building two new man-made islands on either side of the hotel.

The Marsa Al Arab development slated for completion by 2020 will include theatres, a marina, residences and a business district.

“There are some things you want to do in life, and visiting the Burj Al Arab is one of them. Many people travel to go see the Burj Al Arab. It is one of the world’s most photographed – and instagrammed – hotels. It has become an icon of Dubai in itself. We want to expand that globally and share it with the world,” explains Silva.

If you’re keen on understanding just how special things can get by way of this renovation, you might want to remember the 2016 opening of the Burj Al Arab Terrace.

That terrace offered guests air-conditioned cabanas, restaurants, and a pool, beach space and Jacuzzis and a swim-up bar.

If those are the indicators of what is to come, the renovation is bound to be an epic one. Stay tuned for more details.
