The city gets a starring role in the latest release from this UAE-based singer…

Music videos are often shot on empty lots, rented-out properties and the streets of LA, or so it seems.

However, we’ve always thought Dubai would make a top location, and it looks like Layla Kardan agrees.

The Australian singer, who is based in Dubai, chose to shoot the video for her new track right here in the emirate – and the result is spectacular.

The Belgian-born songstress took to the streets surrounding Meena Bazaar in Bur Dubai for some stunning exterior shots for her As One video.

With windows full of gold, shopfronts packed with fabrics, and flashing signs lighting up the narrow streets, the clip captures the charms of Dubai’s older quarters.

An empty gilded restaurant also plays host to Kardan, and though we don’t instantly recognise it, we’ve reached out to the singer to discover its location.

Kardan’s wardrobe choices also shine just as much as the city, with the singer donning a floral jumpsuit and gold, floor-sweeping cape.

An embroidered silver metallic bomber jacket and pussybow blouse also make a memorable appearance, one that’s got us thinking about hitting up Harvey Nichols this weekend.

The singer, who describes her music as “infused with Middle Eastern and poetic movements”, is a regular performer in the city, having played at the Dubai Jazz Festival and Art Dubai.
