Held in the royal stables at Chantilly, France, Maria Grazia Chiuri’s second resort show for the French fashion house opened with a performance from an all-women team of Mexican rodeo riders.

Chiuri was inspired by the escaramuzas, she said, for their strength and femininity. The collection represents a blend of tradition and freedom, with an eye on the future.

With full skirts and embellished fabrics, the collection is tactile and bold. And as if on cue, the heavens opened as the show began. Chiuri’s models walked in the rain.

Paris Jackson, Billie Lourd, Alexa Chung, Arizona Muse, Natalie Dyer and Charlie Heaton sat front row under umbrellas.

Chiuri was also inspired by the work of Chilean novelist Isabelle Allende, with the independence of her female characters coming through.
