The docu-series is by highly acclaimed director Andrew Rossi, who’s best known for his film The First Monday in May which focused on the annual MET Gala. The six-episode Netflix series follows creators in different fields, as they and their team prepare for an important event.
Back in January 2018, Andrew was given unprecedented access to the Chanel studio and ateliers, as he followed the brand’s creative director, Karl Lagerfeld, for a week prior to the presentation of 68 handcrafted looks from the Spring-Summer 2018 Haute Couture collection. This show was special as it saw Karl letting go of his usual style, in favour of a palatial French garden setting.
The incredible fashion show included an 18th-century fountain and a surrounding rose-studded pergolas for the models to circle. From the French fashion house’s Haute Couture ateliers, to the ateliers of Métiers d’art, we will get to watch as Karl and his team bring this French dream to life.
