The singer was previously called “too big” to dress by designers

American singer, Bebe Rexha, stunned on the Grammy red carpet in a red ball gown, from Bahraini designer, Shaima Al Mansoori. The 29-year-old, who was nominated for two awards, struggled to find a designer to dress her ahead of the music award ceremony.

Late last month, the singer took to social media to call out fashion labels, whom she claimed refused to dress her for the Grammys due to her size. The size eight artist turned to the Bahraini designer, who dressed her in a red-carpet winning look. Bebe dazzled in a floor-length ruffled red tulle gown, with a plunging neckline. She completed the look with a stunning diamond necklace, and drop earrings from London jeweller David Morris.

The singer was nominated for Best New Artist and Best Country Duo/Group Performance categories at the prestigious music awards. However, a little after receiving her nominations, she we shocked to discover that many designers did not want to dress her. Not one to bow down to pressure, Bebe hit back at designers in an Instagram caption and video, shared with her 7.5 million followers.

“Im sorry, I had to get this off my chest. If you don’t like my fashion style or my music that’s one thing. But don’t say you can’t dress someone that isn’t a runway size,” she captioned her Instagram post. “Empower women to love their bodies instead of making girls and women feel less then by their size. We are beautiful any size! Small or large!”

The I’m a Mess hitmaker’s outrage was evident in the accompanying video, where she stated, “So I finally get nominated at the Grammys, and it’s like the coolest thing ever. And a lot of times artists will go and talk to designers, and they’ll make them custom dresses to walk the red carpet, right So I had my team hit [up] a lot of designers, and a lot of them do not want to dress me because I’m too big. Literally, like, I’m too big.”

“If a [US] size 6/8 is too big, then I don’t know what to tell you,” she continued. “Then I don’t want to wear your dresses because that’s crazy. You’re saying that all the women in the world that are a size 8 and up are not beautiful and they cannot wear your dresses.”

Safe to say that Bebe stunned on the red-carpet, and was one of the best dressed stars at the event. Nevertheless, she is not the first celebrity to wear a gown from Bahraini label. Singers Kesha and Kelly Rowland, and actress Ashley Greene have all previously worn pieces from Monsoori.
