A woman’s wedding is undoubtedly one of the most memorable days of her life, and the day where she will feel her most beautiful. So imagine the horror of one UAE bride who was jilted after her Big Day because her husband decided he didn’t find her attractive without make-up.
Despite declaring to stick together through better and for worse, one husband in the UAE has rejected his wife after seeing her in the days following their wedding and not liking how she looks when not painted with make-up.
The Arab bride is understandingly devastated by the shocking rebuttal – it is, after all, one of the biggest confidence knockers – and is being counselled by a psychologist.
According to Gulf News, the 34-year-old Arab groom has decided to divorce his 28-year-old bride, after accusing her of deceiving him by using so many cosmetics, including fake eyelashes.
Psychologist Dr Abdul Aziz Asaf claims the groom learned of the alleged ‘deceit’ following a leisurely swim with his wife at Al Mamzar Beach wear the wife’s make-up washed off, much to the groom’s horror.
Despite the couple being engaged for six months this is the first time the groom saw her looking au naturel.

“The groom immediately divorced his bride and refused any attempt to reunite them again,” Dr Asaf said.
Sadly, this is the not the first time a groom has failed to look beyond looks. There was an infamous case back in 2013 in China where Jian Feng sued his wife for giving birth to what he called an “incredibly ugly” girl.
Feng won his legal case because his wife never told him that she had US$100,000 worth of surgery to make her look beautiful. She was made to pay her husband US$120,000.
It’s such a shame in a world where pressures are still on women to look a certain way that when women conform to these pressures they are still not free from ridicule, abuse or criticism.
Remember beauty is skin deep, and love is about more than what’s on the outside.
