If there’s anyone who can work crushed velvet in summer, it’s her.
Regular readers of Emirates Woman won’t be surprised to see us talking about Amal Clooney’s style choices.
The human rights lawyer and red carpet regular is one of our absolute favourites when it comes to fashion, and with two recent looks in shades of burgundy, Clooney’s reconfirmed her place at the top of our best-dressed list.

Let’s go in for a closer look.
First off, those glossy, just-messy-enough waves are some of the best hair we’ve ever seen. Brilliant work.
Moving onto the dress, there’s also a lot to love. Sure, Clooney’s velvet Alberta Ferretti isn’t the obvious choice for a summer event, but we’d challenge you to say she doesn’t look gorgeous. It’s got drama and presence, and the colour is sublime.
Clooney was headed to a gala dinner for the Worldwide Alumni Association of the American University of Beirut in London.
Now, onto her second charming fit of the week.
Here, Clooney is pictured with Italian designer Giambattista Valli, at the opening of his new London store.
In lace rather than velvet, she looks no less lovely. We’ve always got time for a jumpsuit — especially one with this ruffled, one-shoulder cut.
Outstanding.
When we last spoke about Clooney, and her husband George, they were bringing a tear to our eye.
In a speech paying tribute to George’s film achievements, Amal opened up about the early days of their relationship.
“Then we met, started hiding out in my London flat and very soon it felt like no matter what happened I would never want to be with anyone else,” she said.
“I couldn’t sleep when we were apart, and I’m told I would display a particular grin and head tilt when reading his text messages or the letters that he would hide in my bag.”
We’re thinking a great burgundy jumpsuit might be easier to find than a love like that, so you’ll find us in the mall this evening.
