Think beachfront restaurants, shops and luxury apartments…

We’ve already got Bluewaters Island and the World Islands to look forward to, and now the waters around Dubai look set to soon welcome another new attraction.

A huge private island will be built between JBR and the Palm Jumeirah, developer Emaar has announced, with the gated destination set to bring “Miami-style living” to the area.

Spread across 930,000 square metres, the Emaar Beachfront project will boast 27 residential towers when completed, as well as restaurants and ocean-front recreational facilities.

The island will form part of Dubai Harbour, a massive 20-million-square-foot project featuring the region’s largest marina that is being developed by Meraas.

The Emaar island will feature a 1.5km private beach that spans its length, as well as a promenade that will welcome “beachside play areas” and “retail pop-ups”, the developer confirmed.

The first of the island’s residences, the twin-tower Beach Vista complex, is set to open in 2021, with flats now up for sale.

Boasting between one and four bedrooms, the luxury apartments—spread over a 33-storey and a 26-storey tower connected by a swimming pool—feature sea views and floor-to-ceiling windows.

Emaar Beachfront isn’t the only water-side attraction to be announced this week either, with the world’s first floating kitchen coming to Dubai later this month.

Aqua Pod is set to bob up around Jumeirah, serving up burgers to customers on yachts, boats and jet skis.

“The goal here is to redefine the idea of a food truck — which is always found on land — and to develop what you can call a floating kitchen that serves people who are in marine craft rather than cars,” Ahmad Yousuf, founder of Aquatic Architects Design Studio, told Gulf News.

Customers in smaller vehicles can pull up alongside the pod itself, or those on larger vehicles can raise an Aqua Pod flag (they’ll be dished out by staff beforehand) and a jet-ski will be along to take your order.

The exact launch date is yet to be confirmed, but we’ll keep you updated.
