Another season means another fantastic style showcase. We bring you an exclusive insight into the top things to know about Fashion Forward Season 6.
“It feels like a family reunion and the family is only getting bigger,” said Bong Guerrero at the Fashion Forward Season 6 (FFWD6) press conference today. Editors, designers, and influencers alike headed down to Magnolia at Al Qasar for the unveiling of the new season happenings at Dubai’s take on fashion week – Fashion Forward Season 6.
Here’s what we found out:
THE WORLD WILL BE WATCHING
Each year FFWD6 invites international industry movers and shakers to offer their advice in a series of talks and discussions panels. This year the team are going global with special guest Imran Amed, the CEO and founder of the influential Business of Fashion website. The savvy editor-in-chief set his blog up on his sofa eight years ago and today the intelligent fashion platform has over 1.5million followers. With the recent closure of style.com, and the new addition of Tim Blanks, fashion’s respected runway critic, we can only see this figure multiplying by the million. This one is not to be missed, so make sure to book you seat for the In Conversation With Imran Amed (Hall 4 at 7.30pm on Saturday 24).
Other guest speakers are local beauty phenomenons Huda and Mona Kattan, who will be sharing their story on how they became one of the world’s most influential beauty blogger brands and how Huda Beauty gained a cult-following of 7 million fans on Instagram. Building a Brand, the Huda Beauty Story (Hall 4 at 3pm on Thursday 22).

For budding street style photographers, and street style star-wannabes for that matter, there’s Meet the Satorialist (Hall 4 at 4.30pm on Saturday 24). Photographer turned blogger, Scott Schuman of the renowned The Satorialist, create his visual diary of the fashion world in 2005 and hasn’t looked back.
Here is some the handiwork of Scott Schuman, we wonder if he will take some snaps of the fashion crowd during his time at FFWD?

Lastly, but not means least, Global Brand President of M.A.C Cosmestics, Karen Buglisi Weiler will be showing her support for regional fashion at the In Conversation With… (Hall 4, 4.30pm on Friday 23). We are sure the beauty guru known for her fantastic leadership skills and playing huge parts in the M.A.C AIDS fund will give you lots of think about.
WHAT’S NEW…
FFWD6 will see the launch of The Showcase, a platform for Middle Eastern accessory designers to exhibit and sell their collections. Nathalie Trad, Rula Galayini, Nadine Kanso and Sarah’s Bag are amongst 23 designers who will be filling the halls with their limited collections. Open daily, The Showcase will launch with a brunch at 12pm on Thursday 22.
NEW LOCATION
As per the last five season’s Fashion Forward has been held at the Jumeirah Madinat and while for three of the fours days, the presentations, catwalk shows and parties will be held in the well-known spot, on the final, fourth day, the fashion crowd will migrate to the new Design District location were multiple workshops, lunches and cocktails will take place.
A handful of 33 designers that will presenting their collections that includes, Nadine Kanso and Andrea Farrag from Bedouin Studios.
