Early detection can save lives and if you don’t know how to self-examine, there are screening centres that will do it for you. In fact, we’ve sourced six centres that will give you a screening for free.

As a goodwill gesture during October Medeor 24×7 Hospital will be offering all women in Dubai free gynaecologist consultation. Any mammogram recommended by the doctor at the hospital will be offered a flat fee of Dhs99. To make a booking visit medeor.ae
For something a little different
Costa Coffee
One of our favourite latte spots is doing their bit to support breast cancer awareness month. Costa Coffee has come together with Kings College Hospital and will be offering complimentary private physical examinations at their branch on Al Wasl Road until October 26. So if you’re grabbing your cuppa between between 9am to 11am or 2pm to 4pm, make sure to take advantage. Not only that, but Kings College Hospital has a special rate of Dhs500 in place for mammograms at their Dubai Hills Hospital throughout the month. If you do grab that latte, make it their special ‘think pink’ one as all the proceeds will be going to the Al Jalila Foundation.
Studio One Hotel
The newly opened hotel in Studio City is also stepping up this October in the name of healthy breasts. On October 23 between 10am-12pm they will be hosting a free screening session and health check, and will have a team from Zia Medical Centre on hand to answer any questions.
How to check your breasts
Please still see a doctor, this is just something extra you should do one a regular basis. Tips from Breast Cancer Awareness Arabia
Facing a mirror, follow the four steps below:
- With your arms at your sides
- With your arms overhead
- With your hands on hips – press firmly to flex your chest muscles
- Bend forward – inspect your breasts
In these positions, your pectoral muscles are contracted, and a subtle dimpling of the skin may appear if a growing tumor has affected a ligament.
